♫ I wish I could rewind our time to when I first held you and called you mine I could see within that spark divine and I knew you would break that path defined
All I want is for you to be free Even if the one at your side is not me There's a darkness I carry by decree That threatens your reality... ♫
[ Time becomes relative to one's existence, and when there is nothing but a vague passage of night and day, it becomes meaningless. The poison Alastor had poured into his ear had done its task, aided by the rot already settled inside of him, had left him in a state infinitely worse than when Charlie had called him out of the blue those many months ago.
None of it was helped by the fires he had to keep putting out, ones that Charlie nor Alastor had any idea about. With Exterminations in question, with the Accord broken... he feared what would happen and come from the other Rings. They were questioning what would happen and he just- doesn't know. Nothing like this had ever happened before!
Would Heaven see them as a threat, like they had all those centuries ago when the first Extermination began? It leaves Lucifer struggling with text messages from his fellow Sins - some demanding answers, some demanding action, some clearly concerned for their people - when he has nothing to give them. It is haunting him, bringing old memories into dreams that leave him lying in bed in rigid terror, staring up at the dark ceiling as the ancient pain of angelic power stabbing through him returns to him as crystal clear as the moments before his fall. ]
...Charlie? [ The hammering on the royal apartment within the palace instantly drives him up out of the nest of pillows and blankets on his bed, one large enough and then some to have once held someone far larger than just his petite form, but it's Charlie's voice that sends him into a panic. Charlie will possibly hear the chaotic sounds of her father scrambling, falling, scrambling again, getting something on that isn't just his favorite over-worn pair of pajama pants-
and then the door is thrown open, wide golden eyes staring at his daughter. ]
Charlie? ...Why- why are you here? [ Confusion, honest confusion, before he blinks and jerks back, coughing. ] C-Come in! I- I know it's been a while-
[ A very long time indeed since she had come not just to the royal apartment... but this place where her parents had made their home for so long. ]
